Day 1 closes with 4 skippers slightly ahead of the chasing pack, however the UK IOM fleet is full of highly competitive skippers and there will no doubt be much moving and shaking over the next 2 days. With only 4 races completed no one has won the event yet but some have definitely sailed themselves out of contention!
Racing started promptly and ran through the day at a good pace with only one delay for a multiple protest by the race committee on a number of skippers who sailed the wrong course (missed out a buoy).
A switching west- north west breeze led to a few course changes and made picking the gate tricky as a good choice could turn to a bad one with a flick of the breeze making beats particularly tricky. Congratulations to the race team for keeping everyone on their toes with a prompt turn around of fleets.
Racing concluded on the D fleet of race 5 so first on the water in the morning will be C fleet, so no lie in for them with an earlier start tomorrow.
