Well, Day 2 continued in the style of Day 1 with some excellent tactical and competitive racing throughout the fleet, even those not going for the top step were fighting hard amongst themselves with the final positions showing that fine margins were the difference within their own “group” of skippers.
The wind started by coming across the lake requiring PRO Chris Harris to set a challenging Zig Zag course which required the skippers to cross over the end of the lake. Not easy at the best of times.
The good news was that after a couple of races the wind shifted to allow Chris to sail up and down the lake and with a few dropouts the fleet was reduced to a single heat giving plenty of sailing (and walking) for those involved.
By the end of the weekend 24 races had been completed with 4 discards, after the scores were totted up it was Graham Bantock who narrowly retained the title for Rob Walsh (46pts to 47pts) with Peter Stollery and Peter Wiles a few pts back but again only split between by 1pt. The final pairing of the overnight leaders were Vernon Appleton and Darin Ballington who were split by 5 pts back on 82 and 87pts respectively.
Thanks to all at Fleetwood MYPBC for giving up their lake and to the Race Team of Chris Harris, Tommy Mills and Fiona King for their time.
Next big one is the M veterans at Birkenhead next weekend, followed by the IOM Nationals at Lincoln at the end of the month.
Pictures will follow as we get them.
