Once more the MYA were standing at the 2016 RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show, Alexandra Palace, London.

This years display class was the Marblehead and with a full height swing rig boat and a lower conventional rigged boat there were plenty of questions by visitors, the comparatively unusual nature of the swing rig with its Gizmo encouraged many questions on its own.

Saturday saw main event organiser Terry Rensch on the stand with ED councillor Geoff Appleton and MYA President Derek Priestley and they were kept busy all day with questions about the sport and the boats. For those asking about entry in to the sport there was a DF65 at the rear of the stand which also acted as a good demonstration model and was in constant demand. Many, although not MYA members remarked that they had these at their clubs as a bit of fun or training aid for early sailors and this has to be encouraging for us.

Sunday’s team was Terry, Graham Bantock and Darin Ballington, and although the show was quieter than Saturday they too were kept busy with a steady stream of visitors, many of which were enthralled by the Video and Slideshow that showcased all the classes and plenty of leaflets were given out. Hopefully some of these visitors will find themselves visiting an MYA club in the near future.

Unfortunately the team were too busy to take any photo’s but look for reviews from both the RYA and Y&Y who had plenty of “snappers” around the show.

Thanks to all those who visited or volunteered and see you all next year at the 2017 Dinghy Show.
