VANE “A” CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP FLEETWOOD
17TH /23RD AUGUST
Entries are coming in for this years Vane A class championship, and there are some interesting names amongst them.
There are the usual crop of present & past World Champions, Peter Stollery & Martin Roberts, to name a couple, a few names from the top of the IOM and RM ranking lists Rob Walsh, Chris Harris etc, and making his first appearance at a Vane Championship, racing with Peter Stollery, is Josh King. Not forgetting ShaunWyeth who has won the last 3 Championships and is looking for his 4th.
The event has also an International flavour, with a Dutch entry Arjan Van Der Cingel (NED67).
There are some interesting boats too, with Mark Dicks racing his Dad’s “Revolution” the longest most famous and successful A boat ever, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Also present, sailed by Rob & CJ Vice, will be Roger Stollery’s Clockwork Orange a very controversial boat when it first appeared.
Socially it’s always a good week, with a supper & quiz on the Sunday night held in the clubhouse, and the Prizegiving Dinner at the Blackpool & Fleetwood Yacht Club on the Friday night after racing ends. On the other evenings you will always find competitors in the Mount Hotel discussing their successes (or failures) of the day!
We have some spare boats, so if you would like to join us in the 40th anniversary of the largest A Championship ever (56 boats in 1973) give us a call or send an Email and we’ll do our best to fix you up!
