After consultation with a few club members, we have decided that we will be starting…
2021 Bart’s Little Boat Bash, Watermead MBC.
Seven skippers turned up for our Bart’s Little Boat Bash event at Watermead MBC. The sun was out and the wind blowing west northwest at 6 to 9 mph. We were all sailing IOM yachts.
We set up a course of approximately 600m that we estimated would take between 8 to 10 minutes in sail time. This involved turning at eight marks before the finish line. We all were able to sail three races each in various wind speeds. Some dark clouds came over which gave us the best speeds. We had two or three boats out on the course at the same time with them all trying for the best wind areas.
The results are as follows: –
In the order of the fastest time of three races.
- David Isitt 120 6.40 min
- Clive Bardell 36 6.56 min
- Rohan Conrad- Williams 39 7.02 min
- Roger Dunklin 11 7.10 min
- Peter Ion 51 7.45 min
- Jim Major 55 7.50 min
- Sid Hunt 71 8.00 min.
Watermead Model Boat Club have donated £40 to the Andrew Simpson Foundation. A great afternoon sailing for a good cause and showed how a bad mark rounding can eat up time.
I’m sorry there are no photos as we were using our phones as timers! It went well and the club would be willing to host this event again next year.
