Seven skippers came to an overcast cool morning at Manor Park having navigated past the Iron man event being held close to Kings Bromley.
A particularly warm welcome was extended to Phil Holiday from the deep south for making the journey and keeping his wife’s car keys to himself, and to Andy Soars on his first visit to the M’s at Manor Park RSC.
Wind in the morning was a light and variable Easterly. The direction allowed for a long windward/leeward course to be set running alongside the bank, so not testing the eyesight too much and providing a good test of wind shift management.
A rigs, were the order of the day and conditions proved tricky with the famous Manor Park wind holes appearing from nowhere!
Darin dominated the race with 10 wins. John Smith and Rob Wilson slugged it out for second place with John eventually gaining a couple of points.
Close racing was had by all with places changing during the race until the very end. with three skippers gaining wins and another three gaining second places
It was great to see 7 boats on the water. More please.
Looking forward to race three of the series at Leicester, on 15th July 2018.
