Temperatures were raised on this last Sunday of July but not the tempers of the 9 Skippers that turned up for a most enjoyable day run by Peter Cropper and ably assisted by Barry Chisam.
A large course of windward spreader and gate was set out in parallel with the competitors area and it was sailed twice for each race.
Racing was brisk and with the wind conditions and course size the lead was continuously changing.
Tony Edwards who normally gives a master class in sailing was only able to win 2 races out of the first 6, with Bob Conner, John White and Richard Aucott all giving him a run for his money. As the day progressed he got into the groove and took 9 of the 16 races to win the event with a 9 point advantage over second placed Bob Conner.
Alan Perham a local club member sailing number 55 was noticeably in the mix towards the front of the fleet and managed some credible second and third places.
Further back in the fleet it was good to see Dave Redman joining us at District level and gaining confidence as each race progressed.
Thanks to West Cornwall for putting on the event and also to all skippers that attended. If you didn’t attend, why not come to the next event??
