    • Agreed. The opportunity for a Class Owner Group (COG) is to internally organise a number of matters germane to the specific class and its activities in fulfilling its needs and aspirations. My understanding was that the IOM Class Captain had a small team in place. This approach could easily be applied by other COGs - it would be their choice.
    • I note Roger states I am an owner in 4 MYA/IRSA classes and have not heard from any of the class captains, apart from the Free Sailing class captain, for several years. I cannot speak for all the classes but in relation to 10R   he is incorrect.    Having been involved in secretarial work for the Class Captain(s) over the last 5 years I know all MYA member owners of  10R boats with a valid Registration (and some who needed to get their registration up to date) were contacted and asked to complete a COG form on information on their activities and what they would like their COG to do.  Some chose not to respond but over 65 did. In relation to volunteers.  One of the issues has always been that the jobs are just too big for one person to take on, in their spare time.  This may be part of the issue with the IOM Class., which is one of the biggest.  Perhaps an understanding that with the COG system the Secretary/Class Captain has a team to support the role which means various tasks can be delegated or have the effort involved shared would make finding people willing to step forward easier.  With modern on line meetings and communications possible  there is no difficulties posed by members of the 'team' being geographically distant.
