  1. Where does one go to find the results these days? Used to be able to find them on the website but now it seems only the Notice of Race appears regularly - events advertised then silence, I hae not been able to attend as many events as usual this year but would like to know who could and how they did.
  2. Hi there Fastwave, Boat is not for sale, and has been renovated and returned to owner, but thanks for your reply. Alf
  3. I have been asked to restore (tittivate) an elderly A class vane boat prior to its reloction to France, it is basicaly dirty with a few damaged or missing fittings. Vane gear, spars and sails seem to be in fair condition, I am asking for some pointers as how to clean her up without doing any lasting damage. I would also like to know a little of her history, she has a name plate inscibed Esther and the sail number is K627. I am quite happy messing with radio Marbleheads, 10 raters etc but this a little different, any advice would be appreciated.
  4. Chelmsford Radio Y C sail on the training lake at Heybridge Basin on Sunday and Tuesday mornings , you would be most welcome to come along and have a go. We sail One Metres and are reasonably friendly.
  5. The shout from a port tack boat to "hold your course" is being used more and more, usually to browbeat the right of way boat. This along with the bickering at marks - always by the loudist voices- is certainly dampening my enthusiasm for the sport. although there are still some classes and events that are still sailed in a sporting manner.
  6. My two pence worth re. Carbon rigs, All else in the class is unrestricted so the rig material should be too. Alf
  7. I agree with Damian, adding the Districts seems like all gain. lf
  8. Thanks John, for clearing up this matter, I tried to vote twice, two boats, but Vinnie only accepted one, he obviously had read the relevant rules. Alf Reynolds
  9. Just a note for anyone sailing the 36" Nationals on Sunday - remember the clocks go back.

    .

As a competitor I would like to thank Robbie and his helpers for running the event and West Kirby for making us all welcome whilst they where running another major event, and for me sailing a 10 on open water in a decent breeze was magic ( even if the boat failed) . Alf
  11. Sounds like a good idea to me, but it might get too cold to sleep in the truck Alf
  12. I use a short length of silver foil fixed to a length of plastic tube(from a tin of WD40) attached to the top of the backstay. The foil lifts and flutters in the lightest of breezes and the reflective foil is much more visible than spinnaker cloth, total cost 0. Alf Reynolds
  13. The Nationals for the 36" class will be held at the Bournville club on Sunday 25th October - NOR out soon. Bournville's lake is the ideal 36 venue, with a clubhouse with all facilities, the lake has a tarmaced walkway all round. See you all there. Alf Reynolds
  14. I have been following this thread with growing unease, as I am normally well into the lower part of the results and it now appears that my participation is unwelcome, the obvious choice is for me not to bother to support the event. If this then becomes a general view the contestants for Worlds etc could be selected by committee, thus saving much time and effort .
