As many of you are aware the HMS Scoring system is made up of two components; the HMS Scoring System which is the actual process and notes on how to run and schedule heats, and the Excel based scoring software that assist in collating and displaying the scores and results.

The HMS system is used worldwide and is something that the MYA is rightly proud of, however in todays ever changing technological world the computer software is in need of regular checks and updates to keep functional with new releases of Excel or tweaks and improvemnets to the HMS system.

For a considerable time these updates have been carried out in the background and seamlessly by Henry Farley working alongside the MYA Race Team.

Henry has indicated that he feels the time is right to “train up” an assistant, someone who can get to know the software and assist with future updates eventually to take over the main role currently occupied by Henry. Although Henry is not intending to stop in the near future, this is to plan for future years.

This role is not a council or a “front of house” role, but is very important to the sport in the UK and an important backroom role requiring input occasionally during the year.

Henry has informed us that a working knowledge of Visual Basic for Excel is vital along with a bit of free time to help out when required.

If you feel that this is something that you have the enthusiasm and skills to assist the MYA with please contact Bill Green – MYA Race Officer, who will be able to put you in touch with Henry for further information.

Please remember that without volunters the MYA does not exist and this role may suit a volunteer who wishes to put something back in to the sport whilst not having to stand up and make a speech at the AGM!

Please contact Bill by selecting Race Officer on the contact form below.
