The 2021 MYA calendar, as published in the 2021 Yearbook, lists the MYA National Championships and Ranking Events to be held in 2021, but the ongoing Covid-19 situation makes the planning of these difficult for hosts and competitors alike.

In order that there is clarity the MYA council have agreed that the following procedure shall be followed until further notice to assist both host clubs and competitors.

Guiding Principles:

The MYA, host clubs, and classes should take a conservative approach to holding events in 2021 whilst there is continuing uncertainty and should be aware of this when making any decisions on the “Go”, “No Go” status of an event at all times.

  1. All events must be staged in a fair manner.
1.1. MYA National Championships shall only take place if all MYA members have the option to attend, this should include such considerations as travel, accommodation and local guidance.
1.2. MYA Ranking Events shall only take place if all MYA members have the option to attend, this should include such considerations as travel, accommodation and local guidance.
  2.  The hosts and the competitors must have adequate time to make plans.
2.1. Host clubs, in consultation with the class and MYA shall give a minimum of 6 weeks’ notice prior to the event as to the “Go” or “No Go” status of the event.
2.2. Host clubs in consultation with the class and MYA may cancel an event prior to the 6-week deadline.
2.3. Government advice may change at short notice and a later cancellation date may be required by updated advice.
  3.  Will the event be re-run?
3.1. The MYA Council has agreed that for 2021 they will consider permitting National Championships and ranking events currently published up to 30th June 2021 to be rescheduled for later in 2021 and that they would, in that case, retain their Championship and/or ranking status. The relevant clauses of the National Championship and Ranking Regulations will be suspended for this period to enable this. Any rescheduling will only occur with agreement of Club, Class, and the MYA Council whose decision shall be final.
3.2. A host club may run an event which is not a National Championship or Ranking event on the same day should the original event be cancelled.

Communication of Event Status:

The club and class shall make reasonable efforts to ensure that all competitors are informed of the “Go”, “No Go” status of an event by all of the recognised means, and the final status shall also be posted on the MYA Online Calendar.

The MYA, Club or Class shall not be held responsible for late cancellation due to changing Government or local advice.
