In from the Radio League Secretary – John Smith

Whilst we are now past the 5 months into the League year position, there is much to continue to sail for.  Out of the 46 events that were scheduled to take place by now only 3 have been cancelled.  However, this therefore leaves well over 80 events still to count before the end of October.

Some of the names at the leading end are well known.  In the individual skippers competition, Darin Ballington leads from Colin Goodman and Graham Bantock, followed by 12 skippers with over 500 points, 9 with over 400 and 23 with over 300.  Whilst in the club league, Manor Park have just eased ahead of Chelmsford, Birkenhead and Eastbourne, all over 2000 points.  In the Club Improvement competition, Woking still lead followed by Paisley, Norwich and Emsworth Slipper, with virtually nothing between these three.

The really great news is that the ‘New to the Radio League’ skippers now exceeds 80 and the total distance travelled by skippers has just topped 100,000 miles.

Don’t forget that in addition to the points scored for positions at the events, bonus points are added for sailing at clubs other than your own within your district, and that the bonus points are doubled when you sail away in a different district.  So a minimum of 100 points for an event win means positions can change very quickly.

Please keep forwarding those results to me.
