Vane League 2015Fifty three skippers and mates participated in Vane league events this year representing thirteen clubs. It clearly paid off to have attended both the A championship and the 36 championship because these events carry more points due to being more than one day. It was disappointing, particularly for those in the northern part of the country that the Vane Marblehead championship had to be cancelled due to weed problems. There were 16 qualifying events overall. The last race was held on the 14th November with all to play for regarding the individual winner. The individual League trophy goes to Shaun Wyeth of Gosport with 84.76 points from his father Graham Wyeth with 77.57 points.Mervyn Cook was third with 65.5 points narrowly beating David Bell of Llandudno by .5 of a point. This year has seen few visitors apart from at championship events. Gosport has regular vane racing and offers their full quota of league racing. This is a contributory factor to their retaining the Club League shield with 568 points to second place Fleetwood’s 185 points. However, next year there is growth and there are events planned at Llandudno, Bournville and Birkenhead as well as Gosport and Fleetwood.Have boat–must travel!!!Jacque Cook
