Days 1 and 2 have brought mixed weather and wind to the Free Sailors who have travelled to the Navy’s Lake at Fleetwood for the 2015 MYA Free Sailing “A” Week, our reporters tell us that Day 1 saw rain and breeze coming across the lake with 6 heats being sailed, although not the most exhilarating of sailing there is still all to sail for. No reports of the drinking but would be very surprised if the days “debrief” in The Mount had not taken place.
Scores at Day 1:
Day 2 has seen the breeze pick up with David Bell rising to the top of the leader board with Rob Vice in second after some spectacular runs with clockwork orange. The increased breeze caught out some of the lightweight boats as the wind and chop at the Fleetwood Lake took their toll.
Standings at the end of Day 2:
After racing attention switched to the small lake with Dads and Kids racing Choppa’s with buckets of enthusiasm and excitement.
Our reporter on the scene says of his own performance:
Looking forward to steak night at the mount with several pints of Guinness, need a pick me up after a mixed day. Results not good but we were close on 3 of the beats that I lost. Took me too long to get her to go downwind without banking several times – running on strange angles to get her downwind but they do work. Angled back the feather as I was too upright so lets see what happens tomorrow.
Thanks Secret Reporter and lets have more from the lake tomorrow.
