A short piece from Peter Whiteside at Fleetwood regarding their Vane A weekend.
Sat 18th July 2015 – Jack Roberts Trophy for Vane A
There was a strong westerly wind blowing straight down the lake in classic Fleetwood fashion. Race Officer Eric Watkinson asked competitors if they were prepared to race downwind and the consensus was not to do this, for the safety of competitors and boats. Each heat would therefore consist of 2 beats with each yacht of the pair having windward berth at the start.
Two rounds were sailed with David Bell and Peter Whiteside finishing with equal points. A sail-off of 2 beats was required with “Blue Note” winning both.
Final Results as follows:
1st “Blue Note” 97 Peter Whiteside, Eddie Greenwood / Peter Jackson FMY&PBC 24pts
2nd “Pegasus” 26 David Bell, Margaret Bell Llandudno 24pts
3rd “Pandora” 145 Damian Ackroyd, John Plant Leeds & Bradford 6pts
4th “Weight Watcher” 24 Alan Bell, Jim Carter FMY&PBC, 0pts
